The bulk of the collection consists of <i>M. sarsi</i>, which occurs down to a depth of about 800 m in the Seabight. Data are provided on the relative abundance of this species at different depths, the relative growth of its chelae, chelar propodi and eyes, and its reproductive biology. More limited data are provided for <i>M. tenuimana</i> which overlaps with the lower part of the bathymetric range of <i>M. sarsi</i> and extends to about 1400 m in the Seabight. The new information on <i>M. sarsi</i> and <i>M. tenuimana</i> is compared with previous data on these species from other regions.
