The community resembles the <i>Modiolus modiolus</i> community and belongs to the boreal offshore gravel association. Only seven of the 55 species or so recorded yielded more than 100 specimens each. <i>Nereis pelagica</i>, <i>Hiatella arctica</i>, <i>Acmaea virginea</i>, and <i>Ophiopholis aculeata</i> were found on nearly every clump of Lithothamnion.
