A summary of some of the experiences of the author in applying known models of bank and shallow water effects to navigation channel designs for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is presented as well as a listing of prototype ship maneuvering measurements that have been made by the author and that are available for use in validating model results and simulation models.
