In particular the case study of the river Dender is examined, in the region upstream of the city of Denderleeuw in Flanders. Special attention is given to a possible future climate change. The used processing method concerning climate change is provided thanks to research project CCI-HYDR.<br><br>With fast calculation times as a goal, a conceptual flood model of the river Dender was developed in addition to existing accurate, but time consuming hydrodynamic Dender models. Thanks to that calculation and mapping model an extended set of different scenario’s can be analyzed with certain exactitude within acceptable calculation times. Floods with different return periods, different climate change predictions and different measurement plans determine the total span of the considered scenario’s. Input concerning possible measurements is given by Arcadis in the frame of another project: ADAPT (‘Towards an integrated Decision Tool for Adaptation Measures’)","AbstractOtherLang":"Doel van voorliggend thesisonderzoek is het modelleren van de impact van rivieroverstromingen. Het Denderbekken in Vlaanderen opwaarts van Denderleeuw geldt daarbij als casestudy. In het onderzoek gaat extra aandacht uit naar een mogelijke klimaatverandering. Het onderzoeksproject CCI-HYDR (Climate Change Impact on Hydrological Extremes along Rivers and Urban Drainage Systems in Belgium) stelt hieromtrent een relevante methodologie ter beschikking. Praktisch bruikbare piekafvoerdebieten volgen uit een verdere statistische verwerking.<br><br>Bestaande hydrodynamische modellen en ander beschikbaar onderzoek met betrekking tot de Dender werden als basis genomen. Een conceptueel overstromingsmodel van de Dender werd ontwikkeld. Door lokale benaderingen binnen een bepaalde nauwkeurigheid wordt een korte rekentijd bekomen. De rekentijd van de conceptuele berekenings- en karteringsmethode maakt het mogelijk de impact in een groot aantal scenario’s te beschouwen met aanvaardbare simulatietijden. Sets van overstromingen met verschillende terugkeerperiodes, verschillende voorspelde klimaatscenario’s en verschillende geplande maatregelen bepalen de beschouwde overstromingsscenario’s.
