The pattern of this spread in England correlates with movements of oysters for cultivation and though in some instances this has resulted in wild stocks becoming affected, any natural spread has been very localised.The main control strategy in England has been to monitor <i>O. edulis</i> stocks for the disease and to restrict transfer of infected stocks for relaying in order to prevent further spread.
