An approach to the systematics of the Dutch species is given and literature data are revised. Of each species references and, when necessary, a short description are given, and all 76 species found are figured. The distribution of species along transects perpendicular to the coast is shown by tables. It is believed that in the tidal zone living and dead specimens are only rarely transported by the turbulence of tides and waves. The occurrence of living species is mentioned. For the common species <i>Streblus catesbyanus</i> and <i>Jadammina polystoma</i> a beginning was made with an analysis of the life-cycle (generations). Typical for environments with low salinities appeared to be <i>Elphidium gerthi, Streblus limnetes</i> and <i>S. flevensis</i>, whereas <i>Streblus beccarii, S. batavus</i> and <i>Elphidiononion selseyense</i> are characteristic for higher salinities.
