Prevalence in cod was highest in the warmer part of the year. The species identity of the observed trypanosome is uncertain and the vector unknown. Characteristics of the present parasitism resemble those described for <i>Trypanosoma murmanensis</i> (Nikitin) of Atlantic cod in Newfoundland and Murman waters, and for which the marine leech <i>Johanssonia arctica</i> (Selensky) is vector.
