Oligochaetes increased in abundance. The entire population of <i>Corophium volutator</i> tried to leave the contaminated sediment. Most specimens came into contact with the oil coating of the sediment and were killed. Twelve weeks after the beginning of the contaminations the original community structure had reestablished.
