In addition, laboratory experiments were conducted to check the results obtained from the in situ measurements. Due to calcite precipitation, the filtration method resulted in a considerable overestimation of primary production. Radioactive calcite crystals remain on the filter, increasing the count rate. Different methods of decontamination did not reduce the error by an acceptable amount.
