It is essential that developers, local authorities, and environmental consultants alike use this wealth of available knowledge and not attempt to re-invent the wheel. Central to the process are the simple tenets of impact assessment. Regardless of how the information is presented and reviewed, impact assessment requires 1) consideration of the environment in decision-making, and 2) full public participation in the process.
