Particular emphasis is placed on the requirement for a written \"Safety Statement\" under the Safety, Health, and Welfare at work Act, 1989. The Safety Statement, which must be based on an identification of hazards and an assessment of risks, is basically the written expression by management of its programme for the prevention of occupational accidents and illnesses and the promotion of appropriate safety and health standards at the workplace.
