Three feeding rates were tested: group 1, satiation; group 2, 90% of satiation; group 3, 70% of satiation. During the experimental period of 29 days, the average water temperature was 23°C and the dissolved oxygen was always at levels over 90% of saturation. At the end of the experiment, the feeding rate in each of the groups was 18.02% in group 1, 16.63% in group 2 and 15.30% in group 3. Weight and length differences are not significant comparing groups 1 and 2, whereas both of them show significantly higher values in relation to group 3 (p<0.05). The highest gross efficiency is obtained in group 2 as well as the lowest food conversion index.
