This live food was compared to dry (Ewos larvstart C20) or mixed (<i>B. calyciflorus</i> + Ewos C20) diets. After a 14 day-experiment, survival rates of 99.7, 93.7 and 98% were obtained in the groups fed with rotifer, artificial or mixed diets respectively. However, rotifers as unique food supply did not ensure a satisfactory growth rate, since specific growth rate reached 10.3%.d.<sup>-1</sup> with this live food whereas it reached 13.2%.d.<sup>-1</sup> with Ewos C20 and 17. 7%.d<sup>-1</sup> with the mixed diet. This latter regimen provided the best apparent net protein utilization (NPU: 26.3%).
