Ventures have failed to become profitable or even fully operational for reasons related to, for example, inadequate technology transfer or water properties, while others never proceeded further than a development plan due to unexpected instability of a political system.This paper describes, by means of practical examples, important factors ( social, legal, technical, and others) which need to be taken into account when considering the establishment of an aquaculture project.
