The sea-bed in this region is covered with extensive reefs of the tube-building polychaete <i>Sabellaria spinulosa</i>. Total production is 34 multiplied by 1 g dry wt m <sup>-2</sup> y <sup>-1</sup>, the mean annual biomass 24 multiplied by 5 g m <sup>-2</sup< and the P/B ratio 1 multiplied by 4. Production is overwhelmingly dominated by the suspension-feeding brittlestar Ophiothrix fragilis , resulting in a strongly concave species production-rank curve.
