The specimen constitutes a new host and geographical record. Comparison is made between <i>A. kabatai</i> from the Northwest Atlantic and the only other known specimen of this species collected from the spatulasnout cat shark <i>Apristurus platyrhynchus</i> in the Sea of Kumano, off Japan.
