EIsewhere along the Belgian coast this conspicuous species has not yet been encountered. <i>Bugula stolonifera</i> Ryland, 1960 is abundant in the harbour docks of Oostende where it occurs on ships hulls, floating objects and on all sorts of harbour constructions that remain permanently submerged. The species, which was also present in the harbour of Zeebrugge has shown a remarkable phenomenon. During the summer, some colonies get released from their substrate forming rather spherical, free living colonies. Both species, although only recently discovered, must have beer introduced some years or some decades earlier. The southern species <i>Bugula neritina</i> (Linnaeus, 1758) proved to be very common on a ship's hull at the end of March 1999. The yacht had not sailed very much and certainly not visited southern harbours This was the first occurrence of <i>B. neritina</i> in the Southern North Sea and so far the only one. This species has, contrary to the two former species, not yet established itself along the Belgian coast.","AbstractOtherLang":"Tijdens onderzoek in de Oostendse haven werden drie mosdiertjes nieuw voor de Belgische fauna aangetroffen. <i>Cryptosula pallasiana</i> (Moll, 1803) blijkt algemeen als fouling op scheepsrompen en drijvende voorwerpen in de Mercatorjachthaven. Elders in de Oostendse haven en langs de Belgische kust werd deze opvallende soort nog niet aangetroffen. <i>Bugula stolonifera</i> Ryland, 1960 is algemeen in de Oostendse havendokken, als fouling op schepen en op allerlei havenconstructies die permanent ondergedompeld blijven. Bij deze soort valt in de zomer een merkwaardig verschijnsel waar te nemen. Sommige kolonies komen los van hun substraat en nemen een min of meer bolvormige, vrijlevende, vorm aan. Alhoewel pas recent ontdekt moeten beide soorten toch al voor enkele jaren, misschien zelfs een paar decennia eerder al, geïntroduceerd zijn. Van de zuidelijke soort <i>Bugula neritina</i> (Linnaeus, 1758) leefden eind maart 1999 talrijke exemplaren op de romp van een jacht met ligplaats in de Mercatorjachthaven. Dit schip had weinig gevaren en was zelfs nooit in zuidelijke havens geweest. De waarneming van <i>B. neritina</i> is de eerste voor de zuidelijke Noordzee. Voorlopig is het ook de enige.
