Additional experiments were made at 17° C and 500 g-at Si/l and at 3° C and 0.5 g-at Si/l. Valve morphology changed from that typical of <i>T. rotula</i> at 17 C to that typial of <i>T. gravida</i> at 3° C. Variation of the silicon content of the medium had only slight effects.
