Thus far, 57 species (belonging to 33 genera), have been found. The list is based on data from the literature and on collections in the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, Brussels. With a few exceptions, these collections consist of empty valves (or carapaces) collected from beach sands. Information on the real occurrences of the species living in the Belgian part of the North Sea is lacking.
