From these data the correlation between numbers of Mytilicola intestinalis and the meat content of the respective mussel was analysed statistically. Meat content of mussels was lowest when spawning occurred (May). Fluctuations of meat content of parasitized and non-parasitized mussels did not reveal any marked differences.
