Title: Optical remote sensing in the North Sea
Abstract: Optical remote sensing in the North Sea is reviewed with a focus on applications supporting environmental management. Optical remote sensing provides estimates of Chlorophyll a, total suspended matter and diffuse attenuation coefficient and related parameters. These are used for harmful algal bloom detection, eutrophication assessment, ecosystem and sediment transport modeling, and estimation of air-sea carbon fluxes.
