La nouvelle espèce présente des différences marquées avec les espèces décrites jusqu'à présent, et une nouvelle description du genre est donnée. La position systématique du genre Dasycaris Kemp est discutée et sa position par rapport aux genres Periclimenes Costa et Harpiliopsis Borradaile est notée.
