Monocelididae (Turbellaria, Proseriata). In the interstitial fauna of the Galapagos archipelago the family Monocelididae is represented by 9 species (Eulittoral and upper Sublittoral). All these species are new to science. Two species belonging to the genus Monocelis Ehrenberg are described. M. galapagoensis nov. spec, is the sister species of M. hopkinsi Karling (California). Monocelis oculifera nov. spec, M. tabira Marcus known from Brazil, and M. anta known from Chile form within the genus another group of closely related taxa. The systematic position of Archiloa papillose nov. spec, is still unclear. This species is provided with a long tail thread. The genus Minona Marcus is enlarged by 2 species. Minona fernandinensis nov. spec, is the sister species toM. obscura Karling (California). The position of Minona stimula nov. spec, is isolated; according to the existence of one spine in the copulatory organ, the position of the vagina behind the copulatory organ, and the thorn like form of the stylet of the glandular organ this species more strongly differs from the basic plan of the genus Minona. In the Galapagos archipelago the genus Duplominona is living with 4 closely related species: D. galapagoensis nov. spec. D. karlingi nov. spec.,D. krameri nov. spec, and D. sieversi nov. spec. An evolution within the Galapagos archipelago is postulated fov Monocelis galapagoensis and Minona fernandinensis. Both species have evolved from a stem species together with their sister species from the Pacific coast of North America. The 4 Duplominona-species are more closely related to each other than to any other Duplominona-species beyond the waters of the Galapagos archipelago. The existence of these four species within the interstitial fauna of the Galapagos archipelago has to be interpreted as a result of processes of speciation within the archipelago.","AbstractOtherLang":null,"BibLvlCode":"MS","StandardTitle":"Interstitielle Fauna von Galapagos: XIX.
