Departing from transgenerational, interdisciplinary, cultural and ecological conditions for sustainable development, we conclude that social change concerning nature conservation not can be enforced upon from the outside. The participatory approach and it's educative components are the origin for research that takes in account the reality-concept of the local population. Departing from a general outline of development of tourism in Third World Countries and it's social repercussions, some further outlines of contemporary tourism are given. Further we extensively explore ecotourism as an alternative for sustainable development. In the second chapter we describe briefly demographical, geographical and touristic aspects from Kenya and Kwale District The conceptual framework, constructivism, will be amplified in chapter 3. We also describe the methodological instruments: ‘Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). In chapter 4 we report the results of the research. In first case research was done in the village, the most important instrument the community meetings. On the other hand research was accomplished outside the village. Finally, we visited a few projects in which cooperation with local people have a priority. The reproduction of the natural resources is represented in the 'resource map'; indication of the available services in the 'service map'; allocation of the tasks and ownership division between man and women in the gender map'; information about the social structures and proportions in 'the social map'. In chapter 5 requirements, possible obstacles and concrete reactions and propositions as mentioned by the respondents were brought together, whereby distinction was made between locals and non-locals of Gazi.","AbstractOtherLang":null,"BibLvlCode":"M","StandardTitle":"De haalbaarheid van een kleinschalig ecotoeristisch project in Gazi = The feasibility of a small-scale ecotouristic project in Gazi","OrigTitleLangCode":"nl","OrigTitleLangCodeExtended":"dut","OrigTitleLangID":41,"DateLastModified":{"date":"2025-07-02 08:33:14.980000","timezone_type":1,"timezone":"+00:00"},"UserAccessRight":null,"UserAccID":null,"AuthorKeywords":null,"OtherDescriptors":null,"Notes":null,"AnaPub":null,"MonPub":1999,"DateUpdate":"2013-06-13","DateCreate":"2013-04-29","SecASFANote":null,"ConfID":null,"PeerRev":null,"VlizCoreFlag":1,"WoScode":null,"VABBcode":null,"OpenAcc":0},"refs":null,"anarec":null,"monrec":{"MonID":225018,"ISBN":null,"PubliDate":1999,"IssueDate":null,"Volume":null,"Issue":null,"Pagination":"96","Place":"Brussel","Edition":null,"BRefXtra":null,"BRefXtraRR":null,"SerID":null,"SerRR":null,"Ser2BRefID":null,"Ser2RR":null,"StandardTitleSer":null,"ISSN":null,"AbbrevSer":null,"Degree":"MSc","ThesisID":225018,"InsID":null,"Acronym":null,"FullStandardName":null,"ToPubliDate":null,"SerNotes":null,"eISBN":null,"Pages":96},"serrec":null,"relations":null,"relationsRev":null,"addrec":null,"othpubs":null,"ownerships":null,"authors":[{"AutName":"Vandeput","Firstname":"Sigrid","Initials":"S.","Affiliation":"Vrije Universiteit Brussel, faculteit geneeskunde en farmacie, vakgroep menselijke ecologie","Discriminator":null,"CorporateFlag":0,"BEntID":216741,"AutID":160846,"OrderNr":1,"DegrID":null,"EditorFlag":0,"CorrespFlag":0,"IllustratorFlag":0,"ReviserFlag":0,"TranslatorFlag":0,"InsAcronym":"VUB","InsFSN":"Vrije Universiteit Brussel; Faculteit Geneeskunde en Farmacie; Vakgroep Menselijke Ecologie","ORCID":null,"PersID":null,"InsID":1491}],"mapdetails":null,"datasets":null,"monographs":null,"monparts":null,"serparts":null,"BEntOpen":null,"BEntPrivate":null,"availability":[{"BInstID":248005,"LibID":36,"BRefID":225018,"EmbargoDate":null,"FullEmbargoDate":null,"PhysMedID":16,"hasOCRd":1,"ShelfLocCode":"248005","RFID":null,"PaidValue":null,"Medium":"Server","Description":"Interne VLIZ documenten","Acronym":"VLIZ","Library":"Vlaams Instituut voor de Zee","DutchTerm":"Non-open access","URL":null,"ClassifID":228,"Classification":"Non-open access","ReqLink":1,"ClassifTypID":3,"URLLocation":"https://www.vliz.be/imisdocs/publications/","SubDir":1,"InternalReq":1,"LoggedInReq":1,"Disclaimer":"Disclaimer_VLIZ_Intern","DutchDisclaimer":"<p>Deze publicatie is enkel beschikbaar voor persoonlijk gebruik binnen de Innovocean site <br />en mag op geen enkele manier verder worden verspreid.</p>","FileFormat":".pdf","FileDescr":"pdf","InsPub":1,"InsID":36,"FileFormID":6,"LendableFlag":1,"PublicFlag":1,"orderLib":"A","Notes":null,"AccConID":null,"AccessConstraint":null,"LicURL":null}],"litstyles":[{"LitStyID":7,"Style":"Dissertation"}],"thespers":[{"PersID":27522,"Surname":"De Lannoy","Firstname":"Walter","Initials":"W.","Role":"Promotor"},{"PersID":245,"Surname":"Tack","Firstname":"Jurgen","Initials":"J.F.","Role":"Co-promotor"}],"arch2discl":null,"SERpubls":null,"MONpubls":null,"pictures":[],"thestermsPath":[{"ThesaurusTerm":"Oyster culture","ThestID":5943,"Acronym":"ASFA","ThesTermPath":"Cultures > Shellfish culture > Mollusc culture > Oyster culture"},{"ThesaurusTerm":"ISW, Kenya, Gazi Bay","ThestID":185408,"Acronym":"ASFA_GEOT","ThesTermPath":"ISW, Kenya, Gazi Bay"},{"ThesaurusTerm":"Sustainable development","ThestID":66783,"Acronym":"CSA","ThesTermPath":"Sustainable development"},{"ThesaurusTerm":"Ecotourism","ThestID":151918,"Acronym":"CAB","ThesTermPath":"Tourism > Ecotourism"}],"thestermsASFA":[{"ThesaurusTerm":"Ecotourism"},{"ThesaurusTerm":"ISW, Kenya, Gazi Bay"},{"ThesaurusTerm":"Oyster culture"},{"ThesaurusTerm":"Sustainable development"}],"taxtermsASFA":null,"geotermsASFA":[{"GeoTerm":"Maftaha Bay"}],"collections":null,"conf":null,"proj":null,"Physdatasets":null,"spcols":{"801":{"SpName":"Belgian Researchers on Kenyan topics -
