Die Art wird beschrieben und hier zum ersten Mal detailliert abgebildet. Sie steht in Beziehung zu einer orientalischen Gruppe von Arten derselben Gattung. Ihres abnormalen zoogeographischen Verhaltens wegen wird angenommen, dass die Art durch Schiffe von Japan nach Mauritius transportiert worden ist.
