Amongst these, two specimens subsequently held to be conspecific, were selected by von Schlotheim as types of his Terebratulites chrysalis. To date, one of these is considered by many authors to be the original illustration to Terebratulina chrysalis (VON SCHLOTHEIM, 1813); the other specimen illustrated by Faujas appears to have fallen into oblivion. Similar forms have now been recognised in the Meerssen Member (Maastricht Formation, late Maastrichtian) as exposed in the Maastricht area, and are here described as a new species of Gisilina.
