This fish, which has already lost the pelvic girdle, retains numerous plésiomorphies linking it to the archaic eels from the Cenomanian-Turonian, such as the presence of an autogenous lateral ethmoid, of individualized ectopterygoid, entopterygoid and metapterygoid, of a posttemporal, of two epurals, of well developed preural neural spines 1 and 2 and ural neural arch 1, and of a dorsal fin separated from the caudal one which is still consisting of 20 rays. On the other hand, <i>L. bultyncki</i> shares with the modern eels some apomorphies, for instance the rigid articulation between the symplectic and the hyomandibular, the fusion (only partial here) between the premaxillae and the vomer, the preural neural spine 2 notably shorter than the preural neural spine 3, the partial fusion of the two first hypurals, the loss of the fifth and sixth hypurals and the contact between the anal fin and the caudal one. <i>L. bultyncki</i> exhibits also the fusion of the symplectic with the quadrate and a reduced ural centrum 2 fused with the third hypural. <i>L. bultyncki</i> differs from the other eels by its large autogenous autopalatine, its toothless vomer and the extreme smallness of its exoccipital. That justifies the erection of a new family, the Libanechelyidae.","AbstractOtherLang":"L'ostéologie de <i>Libanechelys bultyncki</i> gen. et sp. nov., une petite anguille du Cénomanien marin du Liban, est étudiée de façon détaillée. Ce poisson, qui a déjà perdu la ceinture pelvienne, retient de nombreuses plésiomorphies qui le rapprochent des anguilles archaïques du Cénomano-Turonien, telle la présence d'un ethmoide latéral autogène, d'un ectoptérygoïde, d'un entoptérygoïde et d'un métaptérygoide individualisés, d'un posttemporal, de deux épuraux, de neurépines préurales 1 et 2 et d'un arc neural ural 1 bien développés et d'une nageoire dorsale séparée de la caudale, cette dernière comptant encore 20 rayons. En revanche, <i>L. bultyncki</i> partage avec les anguilles modernes plusieurs apomorphies, par exemple l'articulation rigide entre le symplectique et l'hyomandibulaire, la fusion (seulement partielle dans ce cas-ci) des prémaxillaires et du vomer, la neurépine préurale 2 notablement plus courte que la neurépine préurale 3, la fusion partielle des deux premiers hypuraux, la disparition des cinquième et sixième hypuraux ainsi que le contact entre la nageoire anale et la caudale. <i>L. bullyncki</i> montre aussi la soudure du symplectique avec le carré et une vertèbre urale 2 réduite et soudée au troisième hypural. <i>L. bultyncki</i> se démarque des autres anguilles par son grand autopalatin autogène, son vomer édenté et l'extrême petitesse de son exoccipital.
