De Nayer Instituut: Mechelen.  138 + addendum pp.","DocTypID":5,"DocType":"Book/Monograph","MarineFlag":0,"FreshFlag":0,"BrackishFlag":0,"TerrestrialFlag":0,"Authorstring":"Van Bogaert, D.","OrigTitleTranslFlag":0,"Authorstringtrunc":"Van Bogaert, D.","Englishabstract":null,"AbstractOtherLang":"De waterhoogte in de Schelde is afhankelijk van de ingrepen die er op haar geometrie plaatsvinden.<br>Zo werden in het recente verleden de volgende menselijke ingrepen gedaan:<br> • de bouw van de tweede containerkaai (1995)<BR> • het verdiepingsprogramma 48/43 ter bevordering van de scheepvaart naar A'pen (1984)<br> • de actualisatie van het verdiepingsprogramma (1990)<br> Deze baggerwerken hebben ervoor gezorgd dat de tijgolf minder weerstand ondervindt en zich dus verder landinwaarts kan voortplanten.<br> Bovendien bestaat er een natuurlijke tendens tot stijgen van de waterspiegel door o.a. het afsmelten van de poolkappen ten gevolge van het broeikaseffect, ... Het is dus wel degelijk gewenst de getijontwikkeling in het Scheldebekken te quantificieren, te bepalen welke de risicozones zijn en via verschillende simulatiescenario 's uit te maken welke ingrepen in de toekomst positief kunnen werken voor deze risicozones. Hiervoor werd gebruik gemaakt van een I-dimensionaal hydrodynamisch model dat gebaseerd is op de St-Venantvergelijkingen. Het stelsel van vergelijkingen wordt niet analytisch maar numeriek opgelost. Dit houdt in dat de partiële afgeleiden in de oorspronkelijke vergelijkingen vervangen worden door eindige differentiequotiënten en dat niet meer in alle punten langs de as van de rivier waarden worden bepaald. Dit gebeurt wel in de knooppunten van de grid, die volgens het 4-punts Preissmann-schema is opgesteld. Deze methode heeft het voordeel dat waterhoogte, debiet en snelheid in elke knoop van het model worden berekend.<br> Na afijking en validatie van het model aan de hand van de huidige toestand van de Schelde, werden verschillende scenario's voor toekomstige ingrepen gesimuleerd en werd de impact van deze ingrepen aan een kwalitatieve interpretatie onderworpen.
