Detailed studies on this phenomenon have not been undertaken. However, it is generally recognized that submerged structures or structural members that are not fully flooded will be subjected to large hydrodynamic pressure pulses from seismic acoustic shock waves in addition to the hydrostatic pressure. Less is known about the vibrational effects.
