The analysis of latern fishes (Myctophidae) has revealed the presence of Lampanyctus intricarius Taning, 1928, up to now unknown in the Mediterranean. Nine specimens have been studied, and there is evidence that this species has also been caught in other occasions. Taxonomic aspects, as well as the world distribution of L. intricarius are discussed.
