The small population lives on the so called Klein Strand in Oostende, an artificially created beach – embayment. Co-occurring species include <i>Cerastoderma edule, Ensis directus, Venerupis corrugata, Mya arenaria, Spisula subtruncata</i> and <i>Macoma balthica</i>.
