Comparison was made with <i>A. disculoides</i> and <i>A. debesii</i> (Hustedt) De Stefano, and with species pertaining to <i>Psammococconeis</i> Garcia (<i>P. brasiliensis</i> and <i>P. disculoides</i> sensu Garcia).
