Seventeen Recent species are recognised, including <i>Trophon araios</i> Houart &amp; Engl, 2007, <i>T.</i> <i>macquariensis</i> Powell, 1957, <i>T. pulchellus</i> Schepman, 1911 and <i>T. veronicae</i> Pastorino, 1999, newly referred to the genus, <i>P. plicilaminata</i> (Verco, 1909), and eleven species described as new. An additional species from South Australia, represented by a syntype of <i>T. plicilaminatus</i>, is left unnamed. Lectotypes are designated for <i>Pagodula carduelis</i> (Watson, 1882), <i>P. obtuselirata</i> (Schepman, 1911) and <i>P. pulchella</i> (Schepman, 1911). The New Zealand Early Miocene species <i>P. vegrandis</i> P Marshall &amp; Murdoch, 1923 and <i>Pagodula waitemataensis</i> (Powell &amp; Bartrum, 1929) are transferred from <i>Pagodula</i> to <i>Pagodula sensu lato</i> and <i>Xymene</i> Iredale, 1915 respectively for want of more appropriate locations.
