The latter name is a junior secondary homonym of <i>Pentadactylus martensi</i> Schepman,1892, from the Red Sea, of which <i>E. obscura</i>  Houart, 1996, is here considered as junior synonym. <i>Ergalatax,junionae</i> nomen novum is compared with <i>Ergalatax martensi</i> (Schepman) and <i>E. margariticola</i> (Broderip, 1833).
