Thiothrix</i> spp. were identified in nodule samples from <i>E. cordatum</i> digestive tubes based on microscopic examination, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and indirect immunofluorescence. <i>Thiothrix</i> spp. protein made up as much as 84% of the total protein content of the nodules.
