The occurrence of <i>H. sanguineus</i> is currently only attested by two specimens found in 1999 in the Eastern Scheldt (Oosterschelde), while <i>H. penicillatus</i>, found for the first time in early 2000, has already established a breeding population in a large part of the Eastern Scheldt and has been collected in the Western Scheldt as well.
