This is the first record of the family Condylanthidae from the Mediterranean Sea. Morphometric and ecological differences between the new species and <i>S. platypus</i> Riemann-Zürneck, 1979, the only known species of the genus, are discussed. Another six species of the Actiniarian fauna of the deep Aegean are also presented.
