A proposed new genus, Lysirude (containing 3 species) is described and separated from the closely related genus Lyreidus. Five species (Raninoides hendersoni, R. personatus, Lyreidus tridentatus, L. stenops and Lysirude channeri) are represented by numerous specimens with far fewer specimens of Cosmonotus grayi, Notopoides latus, Lyreidus brevifrons and Lysirude griffini sp. nov. present.
