The effects of all these elements are combined in a unique variable amplitude fatigue spectrum. Miner's rule is used in order to assess the fatigue life of the component under this loading system. However it does not consider non-linear effects generally present after applying under or over-loads. Up to date different damage models were developed in order to increase the design efficiency. However none of them can entirely describe the fatigue behaviour under complex loading.
