Het troebelheidsmaximum dat bij lage afvoer (∼ 20 m<sup>3</sup>/s) tussen Temse en Schoonaarde optreedt wordt adequaat gereproduceerd. Bij hogere debieten (∼ 70 m<sup>3</sup>/s) wordt sediment het systeem uitgespoeld, het zwakke waargenomen troebelheidsmaximum stroomopwaarts van Temse wordt in dit geval niet teruggevonden. Het blijkt dat advectief sedimenttransport door de M<sub>2</sub>-stromingscomponent altijd een exporterend sedimenttransport geeft, terwijl de M<sub>4</sub>-snelheid altijd sediment importeert. Bij lage afvoer geeft dit een afwaarts troebelheidsminimum en een opwaarts troebelheidsmaximum. De rol van reststromingen (waaronder rivierafvoer) is dat het troebelheidsminimum aanzienlijk meer zeewaarts komt te liggen. Bij hoge afvoer zijn zowel het sedimenttransport door de M<sub>2</sub>-snelheid als de reststroming sterker exporterend en verdwijnen de troebelheidsextrema.<p>Op basis van deze analyse kunnen preferente locaties voor het storten van sediment worden geïdentificeerd. Voor lage afvoer dient sediment dichtbij de Nederlands-Belgische grens te worden gestort. Bij hoge afvoeren is er volgens het model sprake van netto export doorheen het gehele bekken. Aangezien in dat geval het waargenomen troebelheidsmaximum echter niet wordt gereproduceerd lijkt de feitelijk preferente stortingszone zich ook hier meer zeewaarts te bevinden.
