According to, foremost, detailed searching of literature data and voluminous scanning of web pages, we made a list of recent animal taxa named after famous naturalist. This list comprises of 301 animal taxa, which belong to at least 9 phylla (Porifera, Cnidaria, Platyhelminthes, Ectoprocta, Mollusca, Annelida, Arthropoda, Echinodermata and Chordata). The great number of eponyms belongs to the insects; most of them are Coleoptera and Hymenoptera.
