The disease is caused by <i>Leptosphaeria maculans</i> (Desm.) Ces et de Not. and <i>L. biglobosa</i> sp. nov., Shoemaker & Brun, which coexist in plants and resulting in disease symptoms and decreased yield, quantity and quality of cultivated vegetables and oilseed rape.
