Here, we combine the geological context and a reconstruction of palaeoenvironmental redox conditions (using iron speciation) with quantitative analysis of microfossil assemblages (eukaryotes and <i>incertae sedis</i>), to provide the first palaeoecological model for the Atar/EI Mreiti Group of the Taoudeni Basin.
