Five taxa are new: <i>Acanthophyllum filiforme</i> n. sp., <i>A. sougyi</i> n. sp., <i>Charactophyllum soraufi</i> n. sp., <i>C. mauritanicum</i> n. sp. and <i>Macgeea tourneuri</i> n. sp. The coral fauna of the Zemmour is characterized by some North Gondwanan species such as <i>Siphonophrentis kullmanni</i> (Birenheide, 1978). However, there are also several species defined in the Givetian of Western and Eastern Europe which are useful for stratigraphic correlations, especially <i>Acanthophyllum heterophyllum</i> (Milne-Edwards &amp; Haime, 1851), <i>Sociophyllum isactis</i> (Frech, 1886), <i>Spinophyllum spongiosum</i> (Schlüter, 1889) and <i>Argutastrea briceae</i> (Rohart, 1988). Farther to the east, the relationships with the Givetian of Russia, China and Australia are only occasional. Additionally, the fauna of the Zemmour is unusual due to the occurrence of the rather rare genera <i>Moravophyllum</i> Kettnerova, 1932, <i>Charactophyllum</i> Simpson, 1900 and <i>Iowaphyllum</i> Stumm, 1949.
