In the Netherlands this species was collected for the first time in 2010, and was subsequently shown to be widespread across the south-western river delta, as well as in the Dutch and western German Wadden Sea. Despite repeated searches, the species was not found in the northern German Wadden Sea until 2015 (Westerhever, Schleswig-Holstein), suggesting that the invasion is continuing. The species probably has two generations per year, and it is likely that hibernation takes place in the nymphal stage. <i>Prokelisia marginata</i> reaches high numbers on its hostplant, English cordgrass (<i>Spartina anglica</i>), and may affect its fitness. Parasitized larvae were not found. Predation by the heteropteran <i>Anthocoris nemorum</i> was observed. A summary is given of the biological control schemes of invasive cordgrasses with <i>P. marginata</i> in the USA. Its implications to the Dutch situation are shortly discussed.","AbstractOtherLang":"Het areaal van de exotische Amerikaanse spoorcicade <i>Prokelisia marginata</i> breidt zich in snel tempo uit langs de Europese kusten. In 2010 is deze soort voor het eerst in Nederland verzameld. In dit artikel maken we melding van de momenteel bekende verspreiding in Nederland en langs de Duitse Waddenzee. <i>Prokelisia marginata</i> kan in zeer grote dichtheden voorkomen en kan daardoor mogelijk invloed hebben op haar waardplant Engels slijkgras (<i>Spartina anglica</i>). De biologie van P. marginata wordt besproken.
