The new species differsfrom other species of the genus (<i>M. orangiensis, M. marmoratus, M. microps</i>, and <i>M. microcephalus</i>) in specific features of the structure of the first vertebrae, position of dorsal fins with respect to the vertebral column, a unique combination of the number of vertebrae, rays in the 2nd dorsal and anal fins, long ventral fins, and body coloration.
