The parasitic fauna included one myzozoan, three ciliophorans, three myxozoans, 50 trematodes, 41 monogeneans, 21 cestodes, 47 nematodes, 11 acanthocephalans, one mollusc larva and 75 crustaceans. Among the inspected fishes, the mugilid fish <i>Planiliza subviridis</i> was infected with the highest number of parasite species (47 parasite species), followed by the sparid fish <i>Acanthopagrus arabicus</i> (28 species) and the clupeid fish <i>Tenualosa ilisha</i> (17 species), while 23 fish species were infected with only one parasite species each.
