- Abstract
- The first finding of a scavenger isopod of the genus Cirolana Leach, 1818 (Peracarida: Isopoda) collected from the belly of the hammer head shark Sphyrna tiburo (Linnaes, 1758) is described. The capture of the shark was made in Miramar, Havana, Cuba. More tan 20 specimens of Cirolana were extracted from the host, however only one adult male was preserved and studied. The collection of additional material is expected for its definitive classification. This is the first mention of this association for Cuban and the Tropical Western Atlantic waters.
