The new species description is based on detailed LM and SEM morphological observations. Comparison of the new species with similar, previously-described taxa is made. <em>C. pavanaensis</em> belongs to a group of small-celled species of the genus, which lack differentiated, rounded porelli comprising the apical pore fields.
