In finite depth the phenomena of squat is also present and it is affected due to the wave pressure change. Thus, the combined effect of the ship’s periodical motions and the ship’s squat could lead to grounding or bottom impacts. A detailed numerical analysis of the DTC containership’s motions in waves and two different water depths were carried out.
